Selecting the right option
Minute Mend is a repair putty. For a flexible patch see CRC Perma-Mend Repair Patch; for a metal-filled epoxy stick see Loctite 3463 Metal Magic Steel (EA 3463 Metal-filled Epoxy Stick). Check each data sheet for cure times, working life and temperature limits.
Using it
CRC's directions: clean and roughen the area. Twist or break off the amount needed and knead it with your fingers until it is a uniform white.
Apply within 5-10 minutes of mixing. Press it into cracks, crevices and holes and remove the excess before it cures. Rub with wet fingers or a damp cloth for a smooth finish.
After 45 minutes it can be sawed, drilled, sanded, machined, stained or painted. In cold conditions an external heat source is needed to cure it. Do not use on energised equipment.
Storage and handling
CRC's data sheet gives no storage temperature or shelf life for this product; it states a conditional warranty period from date of manufacture only.
Limits and safety
Warning. Causes skin irritation (H315). May cause an allergic skin reaction (H317). Causes serious eye irritation (H319). Harmful to aquatic life with long lasting effects (H412). Not classified as dangerous goods. The SDS gives a flash point above 93 °C and lists the product as combustible. CRC's data sheet says do not use on energised equipment. Read the safety data sheet before use.
