Sutton Tools Carbon Hand Taps are ideal for routine maintenance, repair work and for rethreading where high accuracy and tolerance thread is not critical. Straight flutes are designed for tapping into materials where chips break-up readily and present no disposal problems, particularly in through-hole tapping. Straight flute taps are only suitable for hand operations, tapping up to 1-1/2 x diameter. Selecting the right option

Maximum cutting depth is rated at 1.5xD — keep within this limit to maintain hole quality and avoid overloading the tool. Choose taper, intermediate or bottoming styles to suit your hole depth and entry conditions. Spiral-point (gun) taps suit through-holes with good chip clearance; spiral-flute taps are preferred for blind holes where chip evacuation upward is essential.
