The Sutton D512 is the Long Series of Sutton's solid core auger bits, made from tungsten chrome alloy with a hex shank, for fast cutting through holes in timber such as fence posts and railway sleepers. It is listed in 14 sizes from 6 to 38 mm, with overall lengths of 460 to 500 mm and a flute length of 400 mm.
The range is suitable for kiln dried timber hardwood, softwood, MDF and particle boards, and not suitable for green sap woods. It has a solid centre design for extra rigidity while drilling, a coarse screw point that draws the bit into the work piece for fast drilling in hard and soft woods, a single-spur cutting edge that scribes the circumference of the hole for a smoother finish, and wide lands that keep the bit straight as it bores through the hole. The Power Groove hex shank gives positive grip and prevents slippage in the chuck, and fits Sutton Tools extension shanks.
