Bordo Cutting Tools — Drill Bits, Annular Cutters, Hole Saws & Threading Tools

Bordo is one of Australia's most trusted cutting-tool brands, with a heritage built supplying drill bits, annular cutters, hole saws, step drills, countersinks and threading tools to Australian fabricators, fitters, maintenance engineers and tradespeople. AIMS Industrial stocks 716 Bordo line items from our Sydney warehouse — the full Bordo cutting-tool catalogue with same-day or next-business-day dispatch Australia-wide.

Bordo Range — At a Glance

  • Jobber drill bits (74 lines) — HSS metric and imperial workshop drills, the everyday hole-making range.
  • Cobalt drill bits (7 lines) — M35 cobalt for stainless steel and tough alloys where standard HSS dulls quickly.
  • Carbide drill bits (15 lines) — solid carbide for hardened steel above 40 HRC, cast iron and abrasive composites.
  • Step drill bits (22 lines) — unibody multi-step drills for sheet metal, enclosures and thin-gauge work.
  • Reduced shank drill bits (17 lines) — large diameters with standard 1/2" shanks for use in regular drill chucks.
  • Combined drill/countersinks (8 lines) — drill and countersink in a single tool for centre marking and lathe work.
  • Hole saws (130 lines) — bi-metal and TCT hole saws for steel, stainless, wood and non-ferrous.
  • Countersink bit sets (56 lines) — single-flute, multi-flute and bi-directional deburring countersinks at 82°, 90° and 100° angles.
  • Tap drill sets (35 lines) — drill + tap combination sets for one-step thread cutting.
  • Tap and die sets (85 lines) — metric and imperial threading sets.
  • Reamers (25 lines) — hand and machine reamers for finishing hole tolerances.
  • Burrs (234 lines) — rotary burrs for deburring, weld dressing and metal removal.

Bordo Drill Bits — HSS, Cobalt and Carbide

Bordo HSS jobber drill bits cover the workshop drilling range in metric and imperial sizes for mild steel, aluminium, copper, brass and engineering plastics. The standard 118° split-point grind starts cleanly on most materials. Cobalt (M35) bits handle stainless steel and tough alloys where standard HSS dulls quickly — the 5% cobalt addition raises the bit's red-hot hardness so it can run at higher cutting temperatures without losing edge. Solid carbide bits are stocked for hardened steel above 40 HRC, cast iron and abrasive composites where even cobalt won't last.

For sizing, the Drill Bit Size Chart (Metric, Imperial & Fractional) covers every standard size in a single reference table. For cobalt grade selection — M35 vs M42, when to step up to cobalt from HSS, and the stainless-steel work-hardening trap — see the Cobalt Drill Bit Guide.

Annular Cutters for Magnetic Drill Presses

Bordo annular (core) cutters cut precise, clean holes in steel plate without needing a centre hole — the standard tooling for magnetic drill presses on site fabrication, structural steel and heavy plate work. Available in HSS for general steel and tungsten carbide tipped (TCT) grades for harder materials and longer tool life. The annular cutting action removes only the perimeter of the hole, leaving a solid centre slug — significantly faster than conventional twist drilling on plate over 6mm thick and far easier on the operator.

Annular cutters sit within our broader drilling range. For the matching tooling on conventional drill presses, see drill chucks and drill accessories and adaptors.

Step Drills, Hole Saws & Countersinks

Bordo step drills are the right choice for sheet metal, electrical enclosure cutouts, conduit penetrations and thin-gauge work — one unibody tool drills multiple hole sizes without changing bits, leaving a clean burr-free edge. Bi-metal and TCT hole saws handle wood, steel, stainless and non-ferrous to the standard 1/2" arbor specification — see the Hole Saw Guide for material selection and TPI matching.

Single-flute countersinks deliver chatter-free finishing in hand and drill press use; multi-flute geometry suits production CNC drilling. Bi-directional deburring countersinks remove burrs in forward and reverse rotation without repositioning the workpiece — a workshop time-saver on plate edges and machined faces.

Threading Tools — Taps, Dies & Tap-Drill Sets

The Bordo threading range covers hand and machine taps in metric coarse, metric fine, UNC, UNF, BSP and BSW threads, with matching dies and tap-and-die sets for repair and small-batch threading work. The Tap Drill Sets combine the correct tap-drill pair in a single boxed set — eliminating sizing errors on workshop and field tapping jobs.

For tap drill sizing reference, see the Tap Drill Size Chart. For tap selection guidance, see Choosing the Right Tap for Your Drilling Application. Bordo sits within our broader threading range.

Burrs, Reamers & Deburring

Bordo rotary burrs (234 lines) cover the major shapes — cylinder, ball, oval, tree, cone — and grades from HSS to tungsten carbide and diamond-coated. Used for weld dressing, port enlargement, deburring and metal removal in die grinders and pneumatic tools. The reamers range covers hand and machine reamers for finishing drilled holes to precise tolerance — see the Reamer Guide for sizing and feed/speed reference. Hand deburring tools and swivel-head countersink deburrers round out the workshop finishing range.

Quality & Standards

Bordo cutting tools are manufactured to international cutting-tool standards including ISO 235 (twist drill dimensions), ISO 5468 (TCT annular cutters), AS 1110 (Australian dimensional standards), and the relevant DIN standards across the threading and reaming range. Material grades comply with ISO 4957 (tool steels) for HSS and M35/M42 cobalt-bearing grades. This means Bordo tools are interchangeable with same-spec tooling from other quality manufacturers without dimensional surprises.
