Choosing the right spare
Work from the machine. Note the brand and model on the grinder's plate, the wheel diameter, the spindle thread and whether the motor is single or three phase, then match those to the listing. Spindles come in different threads and in left hand and right hand versions, so check which you need before you order. Capacitors and emergency stops must suit the motor, so confirm the details first.
Replacing a worn switch, eyeshield or wheel dresser is cheap compared with replacing the grinder, and it keeps the machine safe to use. New grinding wheels are listed under grinding wheels and accessories.
Always check the data sheet. Confirm thread, bore, voltage and fitment against your machine before ordering electrical parts or spindles, and have electrical parts fitted by a licensed electrician. Before fitting a wheel, check its maximum rated speed suits the grinder.

What does a wheel dresser do?
A wheel dresser trues and cleans the face of a grinding wheel that has glazed, loaded up or worn out of shape, so the wheel cuts cleanly again. We list Maxigear mechanical and diamond dressers and the Linishall GWDS1.
What is the difference between left hand and right hand spindles?
They are listed as separate variants because the thread direction is different. Check the thread and hand on your grinder shaft before you order, or call us and we will help.
Can I replace the switch on an older bench grinder?
The Abbott & Ashby on/off switch (new style) is listed for 6 inch and 8 inch bench grinders, and the emergency stop button is listed for 240V single phase motors only. Check the fitment against your grinder and have electrical work done by a licensed electrician.
Which capacitor suits my Abbott & Ashby grinder?
