Choosing what you need
If you are buying a machine, think about the work first: wheels for sharpening and edge forming, belts for flat finishing and weld blending, or a combination unit for both. If you are replacing a part, match it to the machine by brand, model, wheel diameter and spindle thread. What are extension and tapered spindles used for?
They let you fit a wheel, buff or brush to a grinder shaft that has a different thread or fitting. Maxigear spindles are listed in 1/2 inch, 5/8 inch, 5/8 UNF, M12 and M16 sizes in left and right hand, so check the thread on your grinder first.
