Choosing a strainer or filter
Match the end connection, body material and mesh to the line. Screwed strainers suit smaller pipework and flanged strainers suit larger lines, and the body material (brass, stainless or cast iron) should suit the fluid. A Y strainer is fitted ahead of a pump, valve or meter to catch debris, and needs access to remove and clean the screen. Fuel filters protect pumps, hoses and nozzles from contamination, so fit one that suits your dispensing equipment. Check pressure and temperature ratings on the data sheet.

What does a Y strainer do?
A Y strainer sits in a pipeline ahead of a pump, valve or meter and catches debris in a mesh screen. You remove the screen to clean it.
Which strainer body material should I choose?
Choose brass, stainless steel or cast iron to suit the fluid and the pipework. We list AAP and Dixon Y strainers in all three. Check the data sheet for compatibility.
Do you have flanged strainers?
Yes. The AAP Cast Iron Y Strainer is listed flanged in Table D and Table E.
Do you have fuel filters?
Yes. We list Macnaught fuel filter assemblies, kits and a replacement strainer element kit. Check which Macnaught pump or dispenser each one suits.
