Start with the nipples on your machine. Check the thread form (metric, UNF, BSP, BSPT, NPT or BSF), the size and whether you need a straight, 45° or 90° fitting. Many nipples are sold in several sizes and pack quantities, so pick the variant that matches. A nipple assortment kit or the Lubemate thread tester can save time when you are not sure what is fitted.
Next, choose the coupler for access. Needlepoint and needle nose couplers suit recessed nipples, right-angle and 90° versions suit tight spots, and button head couplers are the general-purpose choice. For gun and pump sizing, consider how many lubrication points you service and how you will supply grease: a hand or cordless gun for occasional work, or a pump and greasing kit sized to your grease container for higher volumes.
