Beaver VC Vertical Plate Clamp, 1 t WLL, 0-30 mm Jaw Opening (261130)
Available
Beaver VC vertical plate clamps are heavy duty steel clamps for lifting and turning steel plates, steel structures, crane girders and beams, and steel pipes (manufacturer-stated). Beaver describes a positive clamping force that increases in proportion to the weight of the load lifted, with a drop forged, heat treated alloy steel cam and jaws and a spring loaded safety lock (manufacturer-stated). This listing carries three codes: 1 t (261130), 2 t (261240) and 3 t (261350).
Beaver states the clamps comply with AS 4991 (manufacturer-stated). Beaver says the clamps are proof load tested at manufacture (manufacturer-stated). Beaver publishes no limits for steel hardness, plate thickness beyond the jaw opening, or lift angle for the vertical clamps. Lifting equipment must be used within its marked working load limit (WLL), inspected before each use, and selected and used in line with your site lifting procedure and the relevant Australian Standards. If you are unsure what suits your lift, contact AIMS or a qualified rigger before ordering.

Figures are from Beaver's data sheet and Materials Handling Technical Manual (Vol. 4) drawing page. Beaver does not define dimensions B to E on its web page. Beaver's sources disagree on weight: its data sheet lists 3.6, 5 and 7.7 kg per pair, while its website lists 4.5, 7.5 and 14 kg per piece and its manual text lists 4.5, 7.5 and 12.5 kg per piece. Check the weight with AIMS if you need it for handling or freight. The website also lists slightly different C and E values for 261130 and 261350.
Selecting the right option
Choose the code by the plate thickness it has to grip and the weight being lifted. Beaver does not publish a steel hardness limit for the vertical clamps, so if the steel is hard ask AIMS or Beaver before ordering. If you are unsure whether a clamp suits your lift, ask AIMS or a qualified rigger.
