1/2" BSW Hex Nut, 304 Stainless Steel - XNUA212BSW
Available
Made in 304 (A2) stainless steel, the BSW Standard Hex Nut is a six-sided nut that screws onto a bolt, stud or threaded rod and is tightened with a spanner or socket.
A2 (304) stainless steel is the common general-purpose austenitic grade. It resists corrosion well indoors, in fresh water and in most general outdoor conditions, but it is not recommended where chlorides are present, such as coastal, pool and marine settings. Choose A4 (316) there. BSW (British Standard Whitworth) is an older inch-based thread found on older machinery and imported equipment. It is not interchangeable with UNC or metric threads.
You can choose from 4 variants, covering sizes 5/32" to 1/2". Pack quantities depend on size: packs of 100 to 200.
Austenitic stainless steel is generally non-magnetic, although cold-worked parts can show weak magnetism. In wet conditions, keep stainless steel apart from aluminium and galvanised steel with a washer or sleeve, to reduce the risk of galvanic corrosion.

Selecting the right option
Match the nut to the bolt: thread system, diameter and pitch must all agree, and metric, UNC and BSW nuts do not interchange. Where a nut is tightened repeatedly, use anti-seize, because stainless threads can gall. Near the coast, around pools or in marine settings, use the A4 (316) version instead: BSW Standard Hex Nut - 316 Stainless Steel.
