CRC ADOS F2 is a solvent-based contact adhesive with a polychloroprene (Neoprene) base. CRC's data sheet calls it a high performance general purpose contact adhesive, and it comes in four packs: 75ml tube, 250ml, 500ml and 1 litre.

CRC lists it for bonding laminated plastics, hardboard, sheet metals, foam plastics, some rubbers, felts, acoustic tiles, leather and most building materials. It is applied to both surfaces, left until tacky and bonded on contact. The safety data sheet classifies it as a highly flammable liquid that may damage fertility or the unborn child, so read the hazard details below before use.

Selecting the right option

CRC describes ADOS F2 as a liquid (non-gel) adhesive. For vertical and ceiling work and for porous surfaces such as Gib board, CRC's data sheet for the thixotropic non-drip gel CRC ADOS F3 Non-Drip Contact Adhesive 8020 - 500ml lists those applications.

Using it

CRC's directions: surfaces must be thoroughly clean and dry, and pre-wiped. Stir thoroughly before use. Some porous surfaces may need a thin sealing coat, dried before the final coat.

Apply a thin, even layer to both surfaces by brush or roller, brushing in short quick strokes. Bond when tacky (10-20 minutes, tacky but not transferring to a clean finger). Contact is immediate, so position accurately, then apply maximum overall instant pressure, for example with a hand roller, to expel air bubbles. No solvent should be trapped in the bond.

CRC notes that F2 is not a gap filler. Test flexible vinyl first, because plasticiser migration can reduce bond strength; check the test sample after 24 hours. Thin only if the adhesive has thickened through solvent loss. Heat reactivation to 80°C is only for once all solvent has evaporated.

CRC says to clean application equipment with ADOS Solvent N, and to remove coagulated adhesive from surfaces with ADOS Solvent PS (not for cleaning equipment).

Storage and handling

CRC says to store in a sealed container, indoors, between 5°C and 20°C, for up to 12 months.
