CRC Belt Grip is an aerosol belt dressing based on a synthetic polymer, in a 400g can. CRC's technical data sheet describes it as a temporary, synthetic treatment for worn belts that extends belt life by reducing slippage, hardening, glazing, dirt build-up and friction, and helps eliminate squeaks and squeals.
It forms a tacky, non-drying, water-resistant film and can be used on leather, rubber, canvas or fabric belts, and is suited to flat, round and V-belts, according to CRC. Turn off equipment and stop the belts before applying. The safety data sheet classifies it as an extremely flammable aerosol, UN 1950, Class 2.1.

Selecting the right option

Using it
Turn off equipment and stop belts before applying. Do not apply while equipment is energised.
Spray a light, even coating on each side of belts in contact with pulleys. Re-apply periodically to help extend belt and pulley bearing life.
CRC's web page states it is not suitable for multi-ribbed belts.
Storage and handling
Do not puncture, incinerate or store above 50 °C. Aerosol cans conduct electricity; keep away from all live electrical sources including battery terminals, solenoids, electrical panels and other electronic components. CRC's technical data sheet gives a conditional warranty of 5 years from date of manufacture.

The SDS classifies this product as an extremely flammable aerosol (Category 1) in a pressurised container that may burst if heated; it causes skin irritation, may cause drowsiness or dizziness, and is very toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects. It is a dangerous good and a marine pollutant for transport: UN 1950, AEROSOLS, Class 2.1. Never apply while equipment is energised. Keep away from heat and ignition sources, and from oxidising agents (for example hypochlorites), acids (for example nitric acid) and alkalis (for example sodium hydroxide).
