CRC RTV Silicone Select-A-Bead Sealant, Black 184g
Available
CRC RTV Silicone Select-A-Bead is a room temperature vulcanising (RTV) silicone sealant, supplied in a pressurised 184g cartridge for sealing, bonding, protection and waterproofing. The data sheet lists a silicone polymer with a neutral (oxime) cure. It is available here in black, grey and red.
No caulking gun is needed. The Select-a-Bead nozzle controls the bead width, and a self-sealing plug lets you pull it out and re-use the cartridge. CRC's data sheet says it is not recommended for continuous immersion in gasoline or for head gasketing operations.

Selecting the right option
All three colours use the same safety data sheet. For an engine-specific gasket maker see CRC Red RTV Gasket 85g, and to remove old gasket material first see CRC Aerosol Gasket Stripper Safe On Aluminium, Steel & Brass 300g. CRC's data sheet says this product is not for head gasketing operations.
Using it
CRC's directions: surfaces should be clean and dry. CRC says it suits clean, unpainted surfaces. Clean mechanically or with a solvent, without soap or detergent, and use alcohol on glass. Any primer must be dry.
Pull the tab, adjust the cap to the min/max arrow for the bead width, push the nozzle to the surface and press the handle. Tool within 5 minutes and wipe off excess with a dry paper towel.
If no gasket is used, apply to one part and allow a skin to form before assembling. Remove masking tape within 1 hour. To re-seal, wipe the nozzle and replace the cap.
Storage and handling
CRC's directions: keep locked up, store in a cool, dry, protected area and use with adequate ventilation.
Limits and safety
Warning. Pressurised container: may burst if heated (H229). UN 1950, Aerosols, Class 2.2. The SDS does not classify the product as a health or environmental hazard. CRC's data sheet says it is not recommended for continuous immersion in gasoline or for head gasketing operations. Read the safety data sheet before use.
