The Loctite SI 598 Black Maxx RTV Silicone Gasket Maker (formerly Loctite 598) is a metallic black, one-part oxime silicone paste that cures into a tough, flexible silicone rubber gasket. It resists ageing, weathering and thermal cycling without hardening, shrinking or cracking, has good resistance to engine oils and no acetic odour. It is typically used from -54°C to +260°C, which covers oil pans, valve covers and differential covers. This is the 95 g tube.
The paste starts curing once it meets air, so dispense onto clean, grease-free flanges and bring the parts together within a few minutes; it is tack-free in about 25 minutes and reaches full properties over 72 hours. Keep it away from parts in contact with petrol, don't use it as a cylinder head gasket, and avoid pure-oxygen and strong-oxidiser service. Consult the Safety Data Sheet before use.
