Dixon Aluminium camlock, 1/2" (15mm)

This Dixon camlock is an adaptor with a hose tail (hose shank) in die cast aluminium. In Dixon's cam and groove system it is the male half of the joint: it slides into a coupler and the coupler cam levers are pressed down to lock it. It comes in 11 sizes, from 1/2" (15mm) to 6" (150mm).

An adaptor carries no seal of its own: the standard seal for this material, nitrile Buna rubber, sits in the mating coupler, and the pressure rating is based on the seal of the mating part. The sizes are rated at 250 PSI for 20, 25, 32, 40 and 50mm; 150 PSI for 15 and 65mm; 125 PSI for 75mm; 100 PSI for 100mm; 75 PSI for 125 and 150mm. Pressure ratings are based on mating Dixon fittings at an ambient temperature of 21°C with the standard seal, and asks you to consult Dixon for higher temperatures or other unusual conditions. Camlock couplings are designed for use with liquids and must not be used in compressed air or steam applications.

Choosing the right option

Type E has a hose tail, so pick the size to suit your hose and secure the hose with a clamp or band suited to it; the working pressure of the assembly also depends on the hose and the clamp. It connects to a Type B, C or D coupler of the same size. Do not weld die cast aluminium couplings, and do not mix aluminium with polypropylene or nyglass fittings. No standard exists for 15mm (1/2") fittings and that this size generally does not interchange with other manufacturers. Dust caps and dust plugs must not be used in any pressure application.
