The rating drops as the size rises, from 1,000 PSI up to 150 NB to 500 PSI at 250 and 300 NB, so check the figure for your size before you specify the coupling.
Selecting the right option
Choose a flexible coupling where the line needs to move; choose a rigid coupling where the line must stay stiff, such as long straight runs that carry torsional or bending loads. Match the pipe OD exactly, and match the gasket to the fluid: EPDM suits water, and Dixon lists a nitrile gasket for petroleum products (-31 to 80 degrees C, not for hot water) (manufacturer-stated).
