Loctite 242 Threadlocker Anaerobic

Medium strength — locks and seals fasteners that come apart with hand tools. General purpose threadlocker for metal threads up to M36. Thixotropic, so it stays on the thread and suits plated surfaces. Loctite 242 is a blue anaerobic threadlocker for machine and equipment fasteners that need servicing, with fixture in 5 to 20 minutes. On stainless steel, aluminium and plated parts, or below 5°C, apply Loctite SF 7649 or SF 7471 activator first.

Product: Loctite 242 Medium Strength Threadlocker (Blue). Size: 50 ml. Technology: acrylic, anaerobic cure. Chemical type: dimethacrylate ester. Appearance: blue liquid; fluoresces under UV light. Strength: medium — removable with standard hand tools. Viscosity (Brookfield RVF, 25°C): 800–1,600 mPa·s, thixotropic. Fixture time: 5–20 minutes. Breakaway torque (3/8" steel nuts and bolts, 24 hours at 22°C): 7.9–17 N·m. Thread size: up to M36. Operating temperature: -55°C to +150°C. Secondary cure: activator (Loctite SF 7649 or SF 7471). Specification: tested to MIL-S-46163A lot requirements (regional approval). Storage: 8°C to 21°C, dry, in the unopened container. Consult the Safety Data Sheet before use.
