Loctite 272 High Strength High Temperature Threadlocker 50ml

Loctite 272 is a one-component, red-orange, high strength anaerobic threadlocker (dimethacrylate ester). Henkel designs it for the permanent locking and sealing of threaded fasteners; typical use is large bolts and studs, M25 and larger.

For heat, the data sheet reports a compressive shear strength of at least 20 N/mm² tested at 200 °C, after 24 hours at 22 °C plus 72 hours at 200 °C. Henkel's AU product page gives resistance up to 232 °C.

Using it

To disassemble, apply localised heat to approximately 250 °C and disassemble while hot.

An activator can be used as a secondary cure, and can improve cure speed where the gap is large.

Cure speed depends on the materials, the gap and the temperature; the cure-speed graphs are in the Henkel data sheet. The data sheet gives no fixture time.

The data sheet prints no operating temperature range. Its hot-strength graph covers 0 to 200 °C, shown as a percentage of the strength at 22 °C.

Storage and handling

Store unopened in a dry location. Henkel gives 8 °C to 21 °C as the optimal range. Storage below 8 °C or above 28 °C can adversely affect the properties of the product.
