Loctite 609 Cylindrical Bonding Retaining Compound 10ml
Available
Loctite 609 is a green, one-component acrylic retaining compound (methacrylate ester) designed for bonding cylindrical fitting parts. It cures anaerobically between close-fitting metal surfaces, needs no mixing, and is fluorescent under UV light.
It suits bonding rotors to shafts in fractional and sub-fractional horsepower motors, locking bushings and sleeves in housings and on shafts, and augmenting press fits. Activator 7471 or 7649 is the secondary cure.

Choosing the right option
Loctite 609 is a high strength retaining compound with a viscosity of 110 to 140 mPa·s. Other Loctite retaining compounds suit other gaps, temperatures and viscosities: see Loctite 638 Retaining Compound 50ml, Loctite 635 Retaining Compound and Loctite 680 High Strength Retaining Compound 50ml.
Activator 7471 and 7649 are the secondary cure; see Loctite 7471 Primer T Surface Preparation Activator Aerosol 133g and Loctite SF 7649 Activator for Anaerobic Adhesives 133ml.

Using it
It suits slip, press and shrink-fit assembly. Follow them for the type of fit you make.
Activator 7471 or 7649 is the secondary cure.
Cure speed depends on the materials, the gap and the temperature. Do not disturb the parts until sufficient handling strength is achieved.
To disassemble, heat the assembly to approximately 250 °C.
Storage and handling
Store unopened in a dry location, with optimal storage at 8 °C to 21 °C. Storage below 8 °C or above 28 °C can adversely affect product properties.
Limits and safety
Not recommended for pure oxygen or oxygen-rich systems, or as a sealant for chlorine or other strong oxidising materials. Not normally recommended for plastics, where stress cracking can occur.
Test gaps of 0.05, 0.15 and 0.2mm.
Hot strength is tested from 0 to 200 °C, with heat ageing at 120 and 150 °C.
