Loctite HY 4070 Universal Repair Hybrid Adhesive 11g
Available
Loctite HY 4070 is a two-part cyanoacrylate/acrylic hybrid adhesive. Part A is a cyanoacrylate and Part B a methacrylate, mixed 10:1 by volume through a mixing nozzle. It has a non-sag gel consistency.
Henkel describes fast fixture at room temperature in bond gaps up to 5 mm, and bonding to a variety of substrates including some plastics, rubbers and metals.
Where this product is used
- Bonding a variety of substrates including some plastics, rubbers and metals, within the substrates Henkel has tested
- Joints with a gap, where fast fixture in gaps up to 5 mm is needed

Selecting the right option
If the parts are a close fit and a one-part adhesive will do, see Loctite 406 Instant Adhesive for Plastics and Rubbers. For a one-component acrylic cured with an activator, in a cartridge, see Loctite AA 330 Structural Acrylic Adhesive Cartridge 300ml.
Using it
Hold the cartridge upright and dispense upward until bubbles in the smaller component are removed. Attach the mixing nozzle and discard a bead as long and wide as the nozzle.
Apply to one surface, assemble immediately and clamp until fixtured. Allow typically 24 hours before applying service loads.
Storage and handling
Store in the unopened container in a dry place at 2 °C to 21 °C. Storage below 2 °C or above 21 °C can adversely affect product properties.
Limits and safety
Not recommended for pure oxygen or oxygen-rich systems, or as a sealant for chlorine or other strong oxidising materials. Nitrile rubber gives only 1 N/mm² lap shear in the data sheet (substrate failure). Humidity resistance depends on the metal: after 1,000 h at 98% RH and 40 °C, steel kept 84 % of its lap shear and aluminium 24 %. Read the safety data sheet before use.
Frequently asked questions
How fast does Loctite HY 4070 fixture?
On aluminium at 25 °C it reaches 0.1 N/mm² in under 60 seconds at a 0.05 mm gap and in 4 to 6 minutes at a 2.0 mm gap. Henkel gives no steel fixture time.
What gap can Loctite HY 4070 fill?
The Henkel data sheet states fast fixture at room temperature in bond gaps up to 5 mm.
What is the mix ratio of Loctite HY 4070?
10:1 by volume (Part A : Part B), dispensed through the mixing nozzle. Gel time in the nozzle is 4 to 5 minutes at 25 °C.
How strong is Loctite HY 4070?
After 1 week at 22 °C, lap shear is 25 N/mm² on grit-blasted mild steel, 15 N/mm² on aluminium and 12 N/mm² on polycarbonate (substrate failure).
How long until Loctite HY 4070 reaches full strength?
Allow full strength to develop before applying service loads, typically 24 hours.
What temperature can Loctite HY 4070 handle?
The Henkel data sheet states no operating temperature range. It shows hot-strength and heat-ageing graphs only, and a glass transition temperature of 110 °C.
