Loctite Metric O-Ring Splicing Kit
Available
The Loctite Metric O-Ring Splicing Kit lets you make an O-ring to size from nitrile rubber cord. Each kit holds five sizes of cord, a splicing jig, a safety knife and Loctite 406 instant adhesive.
Loctite 406 is a one-part ethyl cyanoacrylate that cures with moisture in the air, needs no mixing and suits plastics and rubbers. Henkel describes the bond line as about as strong as the rubber itself, and the joint is ready for use in a few seconds.

Selecting the right option
Loctite 406 is also sold on its own: see Loctite 406 Instant Adhesive for Plastics and Rubbers. If you work in imperial cord sizes, see Loctite Imperial O-Ring Splicing Kit.
Using it
Follow the instructions supplied with the kit for cutting the cord, positioning it in the jig and applying the adhesive. The Henkel kit page gives no step-by-step directions.
Henkel states the joint is ready for use in a few seconds. For the Loctite 406 adhesive, full strength is typically reached 24 to 72 hours after assembly.
Storage and handling
Store the Loctite 406 adhesive at 2 °C to 8 °C (optimal storage per the Loctite 406 data sheet). Henkel gives no separate storage conditions for the kit as a whole.
Limits and safety
Henkel gives no service limits for the finished O-ring. As general AIMS advice, use spliced rings on static seals only, and not in oxygen, chlorine or strong oxidiser service. This is AIMS guidance, not a Henkel statement. Read the safety data sheet before use.
