Fitting notes

Mackay's fitting steps are: lubricate both the isolator and the socket with water; insert the part in the socket and rotate it by hand while applying axial force until it is partly seated, driving through the metal inner member with a bolt, stud or assembly fixture that does not overhang the outside diameter of the inner member, so the elastomer is not damaged; apply pressure to seat the mounting in its socket; then assemble the other support elements, insert the mounting bolt and tighten it. When the nut is tightened against the snubbing washer the rebound shoulder forms automatically, and Mackay says the resulting pre-compression will ensure optimum performance (manufacturer-stated).
