1/2" UNC Dome Nut, 316 Stainless Steel - DNUA412UNC

The UNC Dome Nut, 316 Stainless Steel is a one-piece nut with a rounded closed top that covers the end of the bolt thread.

Made from 316 (A4) stainless steel, the grade normally specified for chloride-exposed work such as coastal installations, swimming pools, marine fittings and food-processing plant. UNC (Unified National Coarse) is the coarse inch-based thread. Small sizes are given as a number and threads per inch, such as 8-32 or 10-24, and larger sizes as fractions of an inch.

The range runs to 6 variants, covering sizes 1/4" to 3/4". Variants are supplied in packs of 25 to 100, depending on size.

Austenitic stainless steel is generally non-magnetic, although cold-worked parts can show weak magnetism. Use stainless washers and nuts with stainless fasteners, so the whole joint is made of the same material.

Selecting the right option

Check that the bolt does not bottom out inside the dome before the nut is tight. Use anti-seize on the thread. Where chlorides are not a concern, the A2 (304) version costs less: UNC Dome Nut - 304 Stainless Steel.
