Beaver Grade S Safety Pin Bow Shackle 13 x 16 mm, 2 t WLL (244313M)

Beaver colour coded Grade S safety pin bow shackles, 13 x 16 mm to 25 x 29 mm are Grade S (alloy, marked S/6) bow shackles with a safety pin closure, in WLLs from 2,000 kg (2 t) to 8,500 kg (8.5 t). The body is stamped with its WLL, grade, size and a body ID with date of manufacture, so the rating and batch can be checked on the shackle itself. Each size is colour coded to its WLL.

The manufacturer states that the shackles comply with AS 2741. Beaver also states that they are proof tested to the Australian Standard and that test certificates are available on request.

Where this product is used

• Beaver states that bow (anchor) shackles are mainly used on multi-leg lifting systems.
• Beaver states that safety pin (bolt type) shackles suit long-term or permanent applications, or where the load may slide on the pin and rotate it. They are used with the split cotter pin.
• Mining, resource and construction lifting work, where Beaver states Grade S shackles are used.

Dimensions and weights are taken from Beaver's Materials Handling Technical Manual (Vol. 4) and are nominal; Beaver states that actual dimensions fall within the tolerances of AS 2741.

Selecting the right option

Choose the shackle by the WLL marked on it, never by the pin size alone, and make sure the shackle, the sling or chain and the lifting point are rated for the load. Inspect the shackle before each use. Check that the markings are legible, the pin and body threads are undamaged, and the body and pin are not distorted, worn, nicked, gouged, cracked or corroded. Do not heat treat, weld, bend or reshape a shackle, and do not replace the pin with a screw or bolt, as this affects the WLL. A safety bolt type shackle must always be used with its split cotter pin. Lifting equipment must be used within its marked working load limit (WLL), inspected before each use, and selected and used in line with your site lifting procedure and the relevant Australian Standards.
