Loctite 5127 Flexible Anaerobic Gasket Eliminator 50ml
Available
Loctite 5127 is a one-part, blue, anaerobic methacrylate ester paste for form-in-place gaskets. Henkel describes a tough, resilient seal that flexes with flange movement caused by vibration, pressurisation or thermal changes.
It is designed for close-fitting flanged parts such as pumps, housings, axle covers, gear cases and split crankcases. This is the 50 ml pack. Henkel states it is not a UV-curable product.

Selecting the right option
Henkel gives fixture times with Activator 7649 on one side; see Loctite SF 7649 Activator for Anaerobic Adhesives 133ml. For a medium strength anaerobic gel on rigid flanges see Loctite 518 Gasket Eliminator Flange Sealant, or for a flexible flange sealant with a stated gap limit see Loctite 515 Master Gasket Flexible Sealant.
Using it
Surfaces should be clean and grease-free. Henkel recommends automatic dispensing equipment for application.
Tighten the flanges as soon as possible after assembly to avoid shimming. A low pressure (under 0.05 MPa) can be used for a leak test straight after assembly.
Fixture time (0.1 N/mm² shear strength, ISO 4587) depends on the substrate and the gap. With no gap it is 15 to 20 minutes on passivated aluminium and over 120 minutes on passivated steel. With Activator 7649 on one side at a 0.05 mm gap it is 1 to 2 minutes on passivated aluminium and 5 to 10 minutes on passivated steel. At 0.25 mm, activated, it is 60 to 90 minutes on passivated aluminium and 90 to 120 minutes on passivated steel.
Storage and handling
Store unopened in a dry location, optimally between 8 °C and 21 °C. Storage below 8 °C or above 28 °C can adversely affect the properties of the product. Do not return used material to the container. Henkel does not state a shelf life.
Limits and safety
Not recommended for pure oxygen or oxygen-rich systems, or as a sealant for chlorine or other strong oxidising materials. Henkel gives no service temperature range for this product; the data sheet describes a solvent and temperature resistant seal and gives test results after cure at 22 °C and 93 °C. Read the safety data sheet before use.
Frequently asked questions
What is Loctite 5127 used for?
It forms gaskets in place on close-fitting flanged parts, such as pumps, housings, axle covers, gear cases and split crankcases.
How fast does Loctite 5127 fixture?
On passivated aluminium with no gap, 15 to 20 minutes; on passivated steel with no gap, over 120 minutes (ISO 4587). With Activator 7649 on one side at a 0.05 mm gap, 1 to 2 minutes on passivated aluminium and 5 to 10 minutes on passivated steel.
Is Loctite 5127 UV curing?
No. The Henkel data sheet states it is not a UV-curable product.
Does Loctite 5127 need an activator?
It cures anaerobically on its own. Henkel also gives fixture times with Activator 7649 on one side, for example 5 to 10 minutes on passivated steel at a 0.05 mm gap, against over 120 minutes with no gap and no activator.
What is the lap shear strength of Loctite 5127?
On steel with a 0.25 mm gap, cured 24 hours at 22 °C, Henkel gives 2.1 N/mm² (ISO 4587). With no gap on steel the figure is at least 2 N/mm².
Does Loctite 5127 have approvals?
The current Henkel data sheet lists no approvals; contact AIMS if you need a certificate for a specific application.
