M4 Hex Lock Nut, 316 Stainless Steel - XLNA4M4

Made in 316 (A4) stainless steel, the Metric Hex Lock Nut is a hex lock nut. A lock nut is designed to resist loosening under vibration better than a plain hex nut.

The A4 (316) grade is stainless steel with added molybdenum, which helps it hold up where salt, pool chemicals or washdown chemicals are present. It is the more corrosion-resistant of the two common stainless grades, at a higher cost than 304. Metric sizes are written M followed by the nominal thread diameter in millimetres, so M10 is a 10 mm thread.

Use stainless washers and nuts with stainless fasteners, so the whole joint is made of the same material.

Match the thread system, diameter and pitch to the bolt. Use anti-seize on the thread.
