The Sutton B204 is a double cut, tree shape radius end carbide burr with a solid carbide (VHM) head and bright finish, supplied with 1/4" (6.35 mm) shanks on 8 sizes and 1/8" (3.2 mm) shanks on the 3 smallest.
The double cut (chisel tooth) pattern is for rapid stock removal in the harder materials. The chisel tooth pattern is designed to minimise tool chatter and reduce the chip to a granular shape in most materials.
This listing covers 11 sizes, with head diameters from 1/8" (3.2 mm) to 3/4" (19.1 mm) and overall lengths of 1-1/2" (38.1 mm) to 3-1/4" (82.6 mm). Dimensions are as published in Sutton's catalogue.
Fit it to a die grinder or other high-speed rotary tool with a collet that matches the shank, and keep to the recommended speeds for the head diameter shown below.
Where this burr is used
- Grinding in tight areas and corners, using the rounded end and the sides of the tree profile
- Chamfering, deburring and shaping with either the end or the side of the burr
- Weld preparation, and cleaning up weld in joints
- Steel and stainless steel: recommended speeds are given below for steels and alloys and for stainless steel
- Weld cleanup, deburring and shaping in fabrication, toolroom, foundry, engineering workshop and maintenance (MRO) work
