The Sutton T297 is a straight flute tap (VH designation) for metric coarse (M) threads, made from sub-micron grade solid carbide (VHM) with a TiCN coating. This listing covers 9 sizes from M3 x 0.5 to M20 x 2.5.
Straight flutes suit through or blind holes, but they hold only a small amount of chips and do not transport them axially, so deep holes are best avoided except in short chipping materials. The chamfer is Form D (5 x P), generally for through holes.
The thread tolerance is 6HX. The tap is built to DIN 371/376.
