The Sutton T700 is a spiral point (gun) tap (UNI designation, Black Magic range) for BSPF (G) threads, made from powder metallurgy, vanadium grade high speed steel (PM-HSSE V3) with a Hardlube (TiAlN + WC/C) coating. This listing covers 8 sizes from G 1/8 x 28 TPI to G 1 x 11 TPI.
The gun (spiral point) nose curls the chip forward, ahead of the tap and out of the hole, so chip clogging is avoided and coolant can flow without problems. It suits through holes. The UNI designation is for normal, general purpose materials, with a normal rake angle and high thread relief, in powder metal high speed steel. The chamfer is Form B (4.5 x P), for through holes in medium and long chipping materials.
The thread standard is ISO 228. The tap is built to DIN 5156: reduced shank with square drive.

Design features
- Powder metallurgy, vanadium grade high speed steel (PM-HSSE V3). The very fine and uniform grain structure allows high hardness while keeping good toughness, for materials up to 40 HRC and difficult-to-machine materials such as stainless steels.
- Hardlube (TiAlN + WC/C) coating for tapping hard-to-machine materials, with minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) or dry machining, longer tool life and higher cutting speeds.
- 3 to 5 flutes, depending on size.
- Form B chamfer, 4.5 x P.
- Thread standard ISO 228.
