- WLL & Safety Factor: Select a lever block rated above your maximum load. AS 4991 requires a minimum 4:1 design factor for lifting equipment. Always apply a de-rating factor for sling angle — a 60° sling angle reduces effective WLL by 50%.
- Grade 80 vs Standard Chain: Beaver Grade 80 chain provides a higher WLL in a smaller, lighter lever block. Preferred in mobile rigging, confined space and applications where minimising hoist weight and size matters.
- Overload Protection: Austlift AL-4 and Garrick load-limited models include integral overload protection. Specify these where risk assessment identifies overloading as a credible hazard.
