Buy Safety Lockout Padlocks Online in Australia
Safety lockout padlocks are the personal locks used to isolate equipment during maintenance. Each person fits their own padlock to the isolation point, and the equipment cannot be re-energised until every lock is removed. AIMS Industrial supplies safety padlocks from Master Lock and Brady, in keyed different and keyed alike options, with thermoplastic, nylon, stainless and steel shackle models. For general security use on gates, sheds and toolboxes, see keyed padlocks and combination padlocks.

Choosing a safety padlock
Start with the keying. Keyed different padlocks each have their own key, which suits a personal lock that only one person can remove. Keyed alike sets share a key, which suits a team or a single crew that uses a set of locks together. Then choose the body and shackle for the environment. Thermoplastic and nylon shackle models suit work where a non-conductive lock is wanted, stainless steel shackle models suit wet and corrosive areas, and steel shackles suit rugged use. Finally, pick a colour system your site can recognise at a glance, so that each trade or shift has its own colour.
Keep safety padlocks for lockout only. A safety padlock on a gate or toolbox makes it hard to tell which locks mean that someone is working on isolated equipment.
Always check the data sheet. Confirm the shackle size, keying and material suit your isolation points, and the lockout procedure on your site, before you order.

Safety padlock FAQs
What is a safety lockout padlock?
It is a personal padlock used to isolate equipment during maintenance. Each person fits their own lock, so the equipment stays isolated until everyone has removed theirs. It is different from a security padlock, which keeps gates, sheds and toolboxes closed.
What does keyed alike and keyed different mean?
Keyed different (KD) padlocks each open with their own key. Keyed alike (KA) padlocks share a key, so one key opens every padlock in the set. Master Lock safety padlocks are listed in keyed alike sets of 3, 4, 6 and 10.
Do I need one padlock per person?
Yes. Each person working on the isolated equipment should fit their own padlock. If several people need to lock the same point, a lockout hasp holds multiple padlocks.
Which safety padlock suits wet or corrosive areas?
Look at the models with a stainless steel shackle, such as the Brady stainless steel shackle safety padlock. Check the listing for body and shackle material, and call us if you are unsure for a marine or chemical area.
What colours do safety padlocks come in?
The Master Lock 410 range is listed in black, blue, green, orange, purple, red, teal and yellow, depending on the model, and the S31 is listed in red. Brady safety padlocks are also available in several colours. Check each listing for the colour you need.
Can I use a safety padlock as a security padlock?
We recommend keeping them separate. If a safety padlock is on a gate or toolbox, it becomes harder to tell which locks mean that someone is working on isolated equipment. See our keyed padlocks for security use.
