Frontier Ultimate Welder Gauntlet Gloves, Red, 36 cm, Kevlar Thread (FRWLDULTIRR0000)
Available
The Frontier Ultimate welder gauntlet is a 36 cm cowsplit leather glove with Kevlar thread, a tilted wing thumb for open hand pulling and grabbing, no-gap full welts and double in-sewn elastic. Frontier's data sheet lists a yellow flame resistant jersey lining, a 4 mm foam sock lining and a black flame resistant drill cuff lining (manufacturer-stated). Beaver's sources give EN 388 results of 4233 and 3144, and this page uses the lower figures, 3133, which is abrasion 3, blade cut 1, tear 3 and puncture 3 (manufacturer-stated).
Beaver's sources also give EN 407 results of 413X4X and 414X4X, and this page uses the lower, 413X4X (manufacturer-stated). That is burning behaviour level 4, contact heat level 1, convective heat level 3 and small molten metal splash level 4, with radiant heat and large molten metal splash not tested. Frontier lists applications as welding, foundries, smelters, mining and construction (manufacturer-stated). Contact heat level 1 is the lowest level, so do not use these gloves to hold hot surfaces for long. The manufacturer lists no EN 12477 welders' glove result for them, so check that the glove suits your welding process before you use it. The EN 407 result (manufacturer-stated) is read in the order burning behaviour, contact heat, convective heat, radiant heat, small molten metal splash and large molten metal splash. An X means that test was not done, so the glove has no rating for it. The EN 388 result (manufacturer-stated) is read in the order abrasion, blade cut, tear and puncture, and a higher number is a higher level. A 0 means the glove did not reach level 1, and an X means that test was not done. Match the glove to your risk assessment, check the fit, and replace gloves that are worn, torn or contaminated. The ratings are test results on the glove material and do not describe every hazard on your site.
Beaver lists the size as X-large on the data sheet and as one size fits all in the catalogue (manufacturer-stated), so contact AIMS if the sizing matters for your team. Beaver packs the glove 12 pairs to a pack (manufacturer-stated).
