Loctite 480 Instant Adhesive for Plastic

Rubber-toughened instant adhesive for joints that take knocks and vibration. Lap shear strength of 22–30 N/mm² on grit-blasted steel. Bonds metals, plastics and rubbers, rated from -40°C to +100°C. Loctite 480 is a black, low-viscosity cyanoacrylate for close-fitting parts, with gap fill up to 0.18 mm. It fixtures in 60 to 120 seconds on degreased steel and faster on rubber. An activator can speed cure in larger gaps but may reduce final strength, so test first.

Cure: humidity (moisture) cure; one part, no mixing. Viscosity (25°C): 100 to 200 mPa·s. Fixture time (22°C, 50% RH): 60 to 120 s on degreased steel; under 20 s on neoprene and nitrile rubber. Lap shear strength (ISO 4587, grit-blasted steel): 22 to 30 N/mm². Gap fill: 0.18 mm. Glass transition temperature: 150°C. Operating temperature: -40°C to +100°C.
