Loctite 565 PST Thread Sealant 50ml
Available
Loctite 565 is a one-component, white to off-white, low strength anaerobic thread sealant in paste form. It is a methacrylate ester designed for the locking and sealing of metal pipes and fittings.
Properly tightened fittings seal instantly to moderate pressures. Henkel's data sheet gives a hydraulic pressure test to 207 bar after 24 hours cure, and the joint can be taken apart with standard hand tools.
Where this product is used
- Locking and sealing metal pipes and fittings
- Joints that need to be disassembled with standard hand tools

- Fittings for gasoline, petroleum oils or natural gas where a UL or ULC classification applies (regional approval)
- Potable water systems where ANSI/NSF 61 certification applies, potable water not exceeding 82 °C (regional approval)
Features
- Low strength, removable with standard hand tools
- One component, no mixing
- White to off-white paste, high viscosity class

Selecting the right option
Loctite 565 is a low strength paste. For other low strength sealants see Loctite 567 PST Low Strength Thread Sealant or Loctite 569 Low Strength Thread Sealant 50ml. For a medium strength paste see Loctite 577 Medium Strength Thread Sealant.
Using it
Properly tightened fittings will seal instantly to moderate pressures. For maximum pressure resistance and solvent resistance, allow the product to cure a minimum of 24 hours.
Remove with standard hand tools. Where hand tools do not work (excessive engagement length or diameters over 1 inch), apply local heat to about 250 °C and disassemble while hot.
The data sheet names activator 7471 or 7649 as the secondary cure.
Storage and handling
Store unopened in a dry location. Optimal storage is between 8 °C and 21 °C. Storage below 8 °C or above 28 °C can adversely affect the properties of the product.
Limits and safety
Not recommended for pure oxygen or oxygen-rich systems, or as a sealant for chlorine or other strong oxidisers. Not normally recommended for plastics, particularly thermoplastics. The UL and ULC classifications and the NSF certification are regional approvals. Read the safety data sheet before use.
Frequently asked questions
How strong is Loctite 565?
Low strength. Breakaway torque is 5 N·m after 72 hours at 22 °C on 3/8 NPT steel pipe tees and plugs (ASTM D6396).
What pressure was Loctite 565 tested to?
207 bar (3,000 psi) hydraulic after 24 hours cure, on 3/8 NPT steel tees and plugs pre-torqued to 27 N·m (ASTM D1599).
How long should Loctite 565 cure?
Properly tightened fittings seal instantly to moderate pressures. Allow a minimum of 24 hours for maximum pressure and solvent resistance.
How do I remove a joint sealed with Loctite 565?
Use standard hand tools. For long engagement or diameters over 1 inch, heat locally to about 250 °C and disassemble while hot.
What fluids does Loctite 565 resist?
After 720 hours at 87 °C, Henkel reports 100% of initial strength in motor oil, unleaded gasoline, phosphate ester, transmission fluid and distilled water, and 92% in brake fluid. Tests in E85 ethanol, B100 bio-diesel and DEF (AdBlue) were run at 22 °C.
Which activator can be used with Loctite 565?
The data sheet names activator 7471 or 7649 as the secondary cure.
