Loctite 569 Low Strength Thread Sealant 50ml
Available
Loctite 569 is a one-component, brown, low strength anaerobic thread sealant. It is a methacrylate ester designed for the locking and sealing of metal pipes and fittings.
It is a low viscosity liquid. Properly tightened fittings seal instantly to moderate pressures, and the joint can be taken apart with standard hand tools.
Where this product is used
- Locking and sealing metal pipes and fittings
- Joints that need to be disassembled with standard hand tools
- Joints exposed to motor oil, unleaded gasoline, transmission fluid, MIL-H-5605G hydraulic fluid or distilled water (Henkel tests run at 87 °C for 720 hours)
- Gas fittings where the Australian Gas Association certificate (regional approval) applies
Features
- Low strength, removable with standard hand tools
- One component, no mixing
- Brown liquid, low viscosity, fluorescence negative
- Anaerobic cure, with an activator as secondary cure
- Seals instantly to moderate pressures when properly tightened
- Retains 100% of initial strength after 720 hours at 87 °C in MIL-H-5605G fluid
- Australian Gas Association certificate 3375, Class III, 2000 kPa (regional approval)

Selecting the right option
Loctite 569 is a low strength liquid. For a low strength paste see Loctite 567 PST Low Strength Thread Sealant or Loctite 565 PST Thread Sealant 50ml. For medium strength see Loctite 542 Medium Strength Thread Sealant or Loctite 577 Medium Strength Thread Sealant.
Using it
If cure is slow on inactive metals, spray with activator SF 7471 or SF 7649 (Loctite 7471 Primer T Surface Preparation Activator Aerosol 133g, Loctite SF 7649 Activator for Anaerobic Adhesives 133ml).
Apply a 360 degree bead to the threads of the male fitting, leaving the first thread free, and force the material into the threads. Properly tightened fittings will seal instantly to moderate pressures. For maximum pressure and solvent resistance, allow a minimum of 24 hours to cure.
Remove with standard hand tools. Where hand tools do not work (excessive engagement length or diameters over 1 inch), apply localised heat to approximately 250 °C and disassemble while hot.
Storage and handling
Store unopened in a dry location. Optimal storage is between 8 °C and 21 °C. Storage below 8 °C or above 28 °C can adversely affect the properties of the product.
Limits and safety
Not recommended for pure oxygen or oxygen-rich systems, or as a sealant for chlorine or other strong oxidising materials. Plastics can stress crack, so confirm compatibility, and check compatibility before use in aqueous washing systems. The Henkel data sheet lists no ISO or NSF approval. Read the safety data sheet before use.
Frequently asked questions
Is Loctite 569 a high strength or low strength sealant?
Low strength. The data sheet lists breakaway torque of at least 2.8 N·m on 3/8 x 24 steel nuts and bolts after 24 hours at 22 °C, and the joint can be undone with standard hand tools.
Is Loctite 569 approved for gas fittings in Australia?
The data sheet lists Australian Gas Association certificate 3375, Class III, rated to 2000 kPa and -10 to 150 °C. Henkel calls it a regional approval, so confirm it for your application.
How long does Loctite 569 take to cure?
Properly tightened fittings seal instantly to moderate pressures. Allow a minimum of 24 hours for maximum pressure and solvent resistance.
What fluids does Loctite 569 resist?
After 720 hours at 87 °C, Henkel reports 100% of initial strength in motor oil, unleaded gasoline, transmission fluid, MIL-H-5605G fluid and distilled water, and 78% in brake fluid.
How do I remove a joint sealed with Loctite 569?
With standard hand tools. For excessive engagement length or diameters over 1 inch, apply localised heat to approximately 250 °C and disassemble while hot.
Does Loctite 569 need an activator?
Only if cure is slow on inactive metals. Henkel directs spraying with SF 7471 or SF 7649 in that case.
