Mackay M14040 Heavy Duty Flange Isolator M140, Duro 40, 200 to 280 kg

The Mackay M140 is the smaller of Mackay's two heavy duty flange isolators: a base 141 mm long, a body 83 mm wide and a height of 41 mm, weighing 0.4 kg. Mackay says the telescopic metal inserts provide considerable stability in all directions, that loads can be suspended as well as supported, and that interlocking flanges ensure suspension even if the rubber is completely destroyed by fire, etc. (manufacturer-stated).

This listing covers four part numbers, M14040, M14050, M14060 and M14080, in Duro 40, 50, 60 and 80. The chart gives compression load ranges from 200 to 280 kg (Duro 40) up to 650 to 880 kg (Duro 80), with separate shear figures for each. The base is bolted down through two 13.5 mm holes, 110.0 mm apart. Mackay lists the M140 with an optional M189 shield (manufacturer-stated), and a stainless steel version as M14060SS.

Selecting the right option

Choose by load first. Each part number has its own compression load range and its own Duro, so work out the share of the machine weight each isolator will carry and pick the range that contains it. Where two ranges meet (280 kg for M14040 and M14050, 350 kg for M14050 and M14060) the chart prints a different deflection for each Duro at the same load, so pick the softer or firmer one by the deflection you want. The chart goes from 500 kg for M14060 to 650 kg for M14080 with no figures in between, and Mackay's colour code table has no entry for Duro 80. Then check the base against your steelwork: two 13.5 mm holes, 110.0 mm apart, 141 mm overall length.
