Hose, Ducting & Fittings

Hose, Ducting + Fitting Selection — Quick Reference

Hose + ducting + fitting category covers flexible-line products + connectors across air + water + oil + dust + chemical applications. Selection by fluid + pressure + temperature + flexibility requirement.

Hose / Ducting Type Best For Pressure / Temp
PVC Air Hose Compressed air — workshop pneumatic tools 10-20 bar / -10 to 60°C
Polyurethane Air Hose Lighter weight + better flex than PVC 10-15 bar / -20 to 60°C
Rubber Air + Multi-Purpose Hose Heavy-duty + abrasive + outdoor 20 bar / -30 to 80°C
Water Hose (PVC + Rubber) Workshop + garden + washdown water supply 8-15 bar
Diesel + Oil Transfer Hose Fuel + oil dispensing 21 bar / NBR rubber
Chemical Transfer Hose Aggressive chemical handling — PTFE/EPDM lined Per chemical compatibility
Dust Ducting (Flexible) Dust extraction + workshop vacuum systems Low pressure + dust + temperature rated
HVAC Ducting (Insulated Flex) Air-con + ventilation runs Air handling — pressure-rated
Hose Tail / Barb Fittings Hose-to-thread connections Brass / SS / nylon with hose clamps
Quick-Couplers Tool-free connect/disconnect — air + water Brass + SS — per pressure
Camlock + Cam-and-Groove Fittings Bulk fluid transfer — tank + tanker connection See camlock fittings

Critical: Match hose material rating to fluid — NBR for petroleum oils; EPDM for hot water + most chemicals; PTFE-lined for aggressive chemicals; PVC sufficient for water + compressed air. Hose CLAMPS sized to hose OD + secured tight enough to prevent slip-off (use 2 clamps on high-pressure connections). Brands: Dixon, AAP, Continental. Companion: pneumatic fittings, brass fittings, camlock fittings, quick couplings.

Industrial Hose, Ducting and Fittings

Industrial hose, ducting, and fittings are fundamental components in fluid power, pneumatics, liquid transfer, dust extraction, and material handling systems across virtually every sector of industry. From hydraulic high-pressure hose in mobile equipment, to flexible ducting in dust extraction and ventilation installations, to delivery and suction hose for chemical and water transfer, the correct selection of hose, duct, and fitting specification determines the reliability, safety, and longevity of the system. AIMS stocks a comprehensive range of industrial hose, ducting, and compatible fittings from leading fluid handling brands.

Hydraulic and High Pressure Hose

Hydraulic hose is engineered to handle the high pressures, pressure impulses, and dynamic movement requirements of hydraulic systems in mobile plant, manufacturing machinery, and industrial equipment. Wire-braided hose to SAE 100R1 and R2 specifications and wire-spiral hose to SAE 100R12 and R13 ratings cover the pressure range from standard mobile hydraulic circuits up to ultra-high-pressure applications in hydraulic tools and equipment. Hydraulic hose must be paired with compatible end fittings that are crimped by qualified fitters to the manufacturer's specification — field-assembled hydraulic hose assemblies should only be made using properly crimped ends, never reusable screw-type ends in high-pressure systems.

Pneumatic and General Purpose Hose

Air and multipurpose hose for compressed air tools, pneumatic cylinders, and general-purpose compressed air distribution are available in PVC, rubber, and polyurethane constructions. Polyurethane hose offers excellent flexibility and abrasion resistance for use in workshop environments where the hose is regularly dragged across floors. Rubber compressed air hose is preferred for higher-temperature applications and for use with air tools where oil carry-over from the compressor is a concern. Coiled retractable hose is practical for workstations and service points where hose management is important.

Flexible Ducting

Flexible industrial ducting covers applications from dust extraction and fume removal to air handling, material conveying, and exhaust ventilation. PVC spiral-wound ducting is widely used for light-duty dust extraction, while thermoplastic and textile composite ducting is specified for higher temperature or abrasive material handling applications. Conductive and anti-static ducting grades are required for dust extraction on grinding operations and similar applications where static charge build-up presents an explosion or ignition risk.
