The Loctite LB 8040 Freeze & Release is a mineral-oil penetrant for freeing rusted, corroded and seized parts. The spray chills the part to -43°C, cracking the rust layer so the very thin oil can wick in by capillary action. Stubborn nuts, bolts and studs then break loose with less force, and stay lubricated and protected once they are free. This is the 310 g aerosol.
Clear away dirt and loose rust, shake the can and spray the fastener from 10 to 15 cm for 5 to 10 seconds, then give it 1 to 2 minutes before trying to undo it. It is a pressurised can, so keep it below 50°C and away from flames, and do not use it in oxygen, chlorine or strong oxidiser service. Consult the Safety Data Sheet before use.
