Camlock Fittings

Camlock fittings — also known as cam and groove couplings — are a tool-free quick-connect system: a pair of spring-loaded cam arms locks a male adaptor into a female coupler in seconds, enabling fast, reliable fluid transfer without spanners or thread engagement. This makes them the standard coupling choice for bulk liquid transfer in agriculture, mining, petrochemicals, tanker operations and food processing, where speed of connection directly affects productivity.

AAP Camlock Range

AAP manufactures cam and groove fittings to BS EN 14420-7 (DIN 2828) standard, covering the full type range in polypropylene, aluminium and stainless steel.

• AAP Polypropylene Camlocks: AAP polypropylene cam and groove fittings for chemical-resistant, lightweight fluid transfer — resistant to most acids, alkalis and solvents. Ideal for agricultural chemicals, fertilisers and mild chemical transfer. Available in Types A–F from 3/4” to 4”.
• AAP Aluminium Camlocks: AAP aluminium cam and groove fittings for petroleum products, water, oils and general industrial fluid transfer — a cost-effective, robust choice for irrigation, bulk water transfer and tanker operations.

• Dixon Aluminium 68° Cam & Groove: Dixon’s 68° groove aluminium series — including the Type C Coupler x Hose Shank — engineered to the 68° groove profile for compatibility with international tanker and bulk transfer systems, widely used in mining and petrochemical operations.
• Dixon Aluminium Die Cast BSP: Die cast aluminium fittings in Type C Coupler x Hose Shank and Type E Adaptor x Hose Shank — robust BSP-thread aluminium camlocks for Australian-standard pump, tank and hose installations.

Camlock Fitting Selection Guide

• Match Coupler Types: Cam and groove fittings work in pairs — a male adaptor mates with a female coupler. Identify the gender and thread type (BSP or hose shank) on your tank, pump or hose before ordering. Both AAP and Dixon follow standard BS EN 14420-7 type designations, so types are interchangeable between brands.
• Material Selection: Polypropylene for chemical, agricultural and fertiliser applications; aluminium for petroleum, water and general industrial use; stainless steel for food-grade, marine and highly corrosive environments. Do not use aluminium camlocks with concentrated oxidising acids or hydrofluoric acid.
• Groove Angle: Most Australian installations use the standard DIN 2828 groove profile. Dixon’s 68° series is designed for compatibility with international (particularly European) tanker systems — confirm which groove profile your existing fittings use before mixing brands or series.
• Seal Compatibility: Standard camlocks come with EPDM or Buna-N seals. Buna-N is the standard petroleum-compatible option; EPDM suits water, steam and mild chemicals. Always verify seal material against the fluid being transferred, particularly for chemical and food-grade applications.
