• Flat Web Slings: Austlift polyester flat web slings in 1 tonne, 2 tonne, 3 tonne, and 4 tonne WLL ratings are the standard sling type for general vertical lift and choker hitch applications on smooth, non-abrasive loads. Flat web slings are lightweight, compact, and won't damage polished or painted surfaces during lifts.
• Round Slings: Austlift and Garrick Herbert round slings provide multi-leg sling configurations with a higher working load limit in choker hitch and basket hitch modes than flat web slings of the same nominal rating. The round profile allows the sling to tighten around irregular or cylindrical loads without the sharp-edge stress points of flat slings.
• Lifting Clamps: Austlift & Beaver plate clamps, universal clamps, and beam clamps provide a mechanical grip point for lifting steel plate, beams, and structural sections without rigging through holes or around the load. Must be matched to the material thickness range and lift angle specified on the clamp.
• Push Trolleys: Austlift & Beaver push trolleys for I-beam flange mounting provide manual load traverse under gantry cranes and monorail systems — allowing horizontal movement of suspended loads without a motorised system.

Safe Sling Selection and Use

• Hitch Mode Affects WLL: The Working Load Limit of a sling changes depending on the hitch mode: vertical hitch = 100% WLL, choker hitch = 75% WLL, basket hitch = up to 200% WLL (depending on angle). Always calculate load-to-WLL ratio using the appropriate hitch mode factor.
• Inspect Before Every Lift: AS 3775 requires slings to be inspected before each use for cuts, abrasion, UV degradation, distortion, and missing or damaged labels. Any sling with these defects must be removed from service.
